What is Reverse Osmosis?

Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a water purification process that removes contaminants from water by pushing it through a semipermeable membrane.

This membrane allows water molecules to pass through, but blocks larger molecules such as salts, bacteria, viruses, and other impurities.

How Does It Work?

Pressure Application
Water is applied at high pressure to the membrane.

Separation Process
As water passes through the membrane, contaminants are left behind, while purified water moves through to the other side.

Disposal of Impurities
The contaminants that are filtered out are typically flushed away as waste water.
